Sigmon family update

Exciting news.  

 

We are finally getting some traction on the church planting front.

I'm guessing it's going to seem slow to you guys, but it's super fast for us.

 

We've been waiting two years for this, so any movement at all seems like a lot, and we've been getting a lot of movement lately, which makes it seem like we're moving at the speed of light!

We are now officially affiliated with the Journey Church and the Triangle Church Planting Network (whoohoo!).  Some of our Summit Church friends are probably reading the blog and haven’t yet realized we made the switch.  To make an exceptionally long story short, we stayed at The Summit for as long as God called us there.  Our departure was amicable (on both sides).  We have LOTS of friends still at The Summit.  We are praying that a lot of them will come with us when we set to launch (hopefully in August).  

At this point, under counsel from other church planters, we're in a phase where we start telling people about the vision God has placed on our hearts.  If you're interested, we'd love to tell you about it in person.  Heck, let's be real - you'll probably hear about it whether you're interested or not - we're just that excited about it!

 

All this to say that we've been nervous about this.  It's easier to say, "God called us to plant a church" than "God called us to plant a church and we think you should come, too".  We are very aware that everyone we are talking to is currently happy in their current church home.  Transitioning requires change, it is painful at times, and will ultimately require some very real sacrifices.  We also, however, are very aware of all the hurting people who are searching who haven't been reached - and it will take a team of people to reach them - we cannot fulfill God's calling on our life with just Doug and me.  

Doug and I have been praying over specific people in our lives that also seem to be passionate about reaching people who do not know Jesus.  We met with two of those people Sunday night.  They knew we were planning to church plant, but knew very few of the details.  If you know my husband, you know he can talk - and boy did he talk!  I'm pretty sure he talked about church planting, and specifically what we want to do, for at least 2 hours.  At the end of our evening together, Doug asked this couple to be praying about coming with us, but that is not the God part.  The God part is that they responded with, we’ve already been praying for you and about coming with you.

 

We know this much is true.  God called us to Raleigh to plant a church.  He’s confirmed it in too many different ways for that not to be the case.  The gospel will be preached, God will move, people will meet Jesus, lives will change, and most importantly eternities will be forever altered.  We can’t wait to see what God will do next, will you pray for us?  Who knows, maybe God will call you to come along with us.  You don’t want to miss this!
