Camping at Uncle Chad's

So if we're talking about naturey-goodness, Doug's really not that into it. He's into sports, air conditioning, biking, and pretty much anything analytical in nature.

That's why I love my man so much. He planned a camping trip to Uncle Chad's house. Now Uncle Chad on the other hand could pretty much be the exact opposite of Doug. He lives on about 50 acres on a river. He likes hunting, fishing, and outdoors-y stuff. He spent two days before we came up clearing out a place for us to camp by the river.

The boys had a BALL! Daniel was in the water - wet up to his neck -

within 2 minutes of getting down to the river. Jeremy attempted to fish and decided he liked throwing rocks into the river better. Doug even caught fish! Previously he's been really good at catching tree limbs and losing hooks.

Doug had the campsite all set up by the time the boys and I got down there. The tent was up, there was a pit for the fire. It was a fabulous time. We made smores, slept in the tent (well, attempted to sleep in the tent), got up to a fabulous breakfast and our wet clothes on the 'line' Daddy had fixed. It was all-in-all a great experience. Next time though, we'll remember the pacifier...

Jeremy sleeping in the tent. He woke up once around 11:30 but we assured him we were there and he went right back to sleep.

Daniel sleeping in the tent. This was Daniel's first night sleeping without a pacifier. Yea for Mommy who forgot it! He screamed from about midnight until 2 am on and off. By that time he was all tuckered out!

Daddy and Jeremy hanging out by the campfire. Note to self: Pack more water for next time - chocolate makes you thirsty!

Daddy's make-shift clothesline. My favorite is seeing Jeremy's little undies hanging there...

Daddy cooking breakfast. Bacon and eggs. Delicious!

ABM like camping once upon a time. Then he ended up with a house full of girls and one not-so-rough-and-tumble boy, and we softened him up. He prefers the luxury of a cruise ship vacation nowadays :-).

Fun! I'm leaving the camping to Brad. He's an Eagle scout, so he loves that kind of stuff. However, my idea of camping is getting stuck in a hotel with no room service. :)

Thanks, Uncle Chad, for all the work you did to make the boys camp out so special. Love the big fire!
